Akmenė is a city in northern Lithuania.

Town became famous when geologists found large reserves of limestone and clay there and in 1947 construction work was begun on one of the biggest cement production complexes in the Baltic States. Nearby, a new town grew which was to become the region’s administrative centre: Naujoji Akmenė (literally means the New Akmenė).

Biržai is a city in northern Lithuania. Biržai is famous for its reconstructed Biržai Castle manor, and the whole region is renowned for its many traditional-recipe beer breweries.

The town is located about 60 km (37 mi) north of Vilnius and 30 km (19 mi) south of Utena. It was first mentioned as a private property of the bishop of Vilnius. In modern times the city has Molėtai Astronomical Observatory, the only such facility in Lithuania.

Palanga is a seaside resort town in western Lithuania, on the shore of the Baltic Sea. It is the busiest summer resort in Lithuania and has beaches of sand (18 km long and up to 300 m wide) and beautiful sand dunes. In the summer, a multitude of tourists descend on Palanga, both for its beaches and to enjoy the maritime atmosphere. There is a carnival centered on Jonas Basanavičius Street, which is a pedestrian only thoroughfare during the high season. There are dozens of restaurants, bars, rides, and other forms of entertainment. The aforementioned Amber Museum is open to the public, as are as the museum's extensive botanical gardens.

Šakiai is a city in the Marijampolė County, Lithuania. It is located 65 km (40 mi) west of Kaunas. It is presumed that Šakiai first expanded from Šakaičai village. By 1719 a church in Šakiai was built. By the 19th century Šakiai already had city rights; it also had a school, Catholic and Lutheran churches, a synagogue, and a post office. During World War II the city was destroyed by the German army. Among the notable people born there was Zygmunt Kęstowicz, a Polish actor.

Tauragė known also by alternate foreign names is an industrial city in Lithuania, and the capital of Tauragė County. In 2005, its population was 28,504. Tauragė is situated on the Jūra River, close to the Russian border of the Kaliningrad Oblast, and not far from the Baltic Sea coast. Notable buildings in the city, include the neo-Gothic Radziwiłł palace - "the castle" (currently housing a school, and the "Santaka" regional museum) and several churches: the Lutheran (built in 1843), the Orthodox (1853), and the Catholic church (1904). A ceramics manufacturing plant operates in the city.
